BENTOSgo Owner and Chef Shannon Bowman has always had a passion for cooking, but when two of her sons were diagnosed with autism, she took that passion to a new level. She noticed that certain food additives such as dyes or caffeine made a big difference in her children’s behavior, thus she began preparing all of their meals from scratch, steering clear of any additives or preservatives.
While she was a stay at home mom, Bowman continued sharing her newfound passion for cooking through various catering and fundraising jobs. When more and more people commented on the healthy, fresh quality of her food, she decided everyone deserved to have access to fresh, made-from-scratch meal options.
In June of 2014, she created her very first business—BENTOS Lunch, a concept that has since evolved from cold lunches served onsite from a food cart into something new altogether. Bowman and Business Development Manager Kirsten Mesch realized that people need meals delivered to their home or office that can be ready to eat whenever they are. Thus, the creation of BENTOSgo, a reheatable, meal delivery service, offering healthy, made-from-scratch meals in eco-friendly packaging that fits your schedule.
